I found myself traveling south on a familiar stretch of highway while running an errand this afternoon.
I thought of you, and how I’d never make that drive to see you again.
Though I loved you with all my heart, I knew I’d have to let you go someday.
I just didn’t think it would be so soon.
I believe that things are as they should be, but my heart still aches when I think of you, and I can’t help but wish that there was some way I could have kept you, if only for a little longer.
I’ll miss you, kiddo.
Note from the Chief Bottle Finder: We have this amazing capacity to intertwine geographical locations with emotions. I liken it to the experience of driving through a place where you once lived – over time your reaction to being there may change, soften, become more or less complex. If it’s important it elicits something. What place does that for you?
