I was walking down Grand Ave between Greene and Gates
(I believe you live there), and I stopped when I saw you standing in front of a shopping bag, looking confused and slightly perturbed.
It turns out you had a little rust-colored bat stuck to your bag…
which was totally unexpected and weird and funny.
Maybe it was trying to rob you!
I bent down and grabbed its wing, but it didn’t want to move.
So I picked up the bag and it took off, flying around in a circle!
I told you that it was good that you didn’t touch it because a lot of bats have rabies! For real!
You called me your hero!
Which I thought was an exaggeration, but very complimentary nonetheless.
It was then that I noticed that you had warm eyes and a beautiful smile.
I didn’t stop though because, well, I’m not sure.
We are strangers, I guess. And I was not expecting to have to remove a bat from someone’s plastic shopping bag tonight.
But I would really like to stop and talk to you now.
So here’s hoping you’re reading this!
If not, one of your friends that you told the story is, and will pass on the message.
Have a great life if I don’t see you…XXX
