Missed Connections in Brooklyn, NY
DUMBO, You Asked for Directions to the A/C Train
You were trying to get to Manhattan, but the F train wasn’t running…
you asked us (i was with two girls) for directions to the AC train…
somebody started to give you bad directions and I redirected you to the general area…
one girl in our group began to mock you as you walked away from us…
i was ashamed to be with someone so insensitive…
my friends thought you knew where to go and were simply hitting on me…
i think you really needed a bit of direction…
but even if you were hitting on me (or my friends) it doesn’t excuse the manner-less/petty and jealous reaction of my friend…
I just wanted to write this and let you know that I feel this way…
I also want to thank you for allowing me an opportunity to see a side to my friend that I hadn’t noticed yet…
I hope you were able to get to your train.
Her Two Cents on DUMBO, You Asked for Directions to the A/C Train
It appears our endearing Brooklyn poet had to learn a lesson in civility and decent human behavior the hard way – by witnessing the unattractive actions of friends and being complicit in their behavior. The MC is filled with dozens of apologies (although most not quite as coherent as this one) but in MY two cents, the best apology is to not repeat the same action willingly. So, go forth and give good, kind-hearted directions to the lost souls trying to navigate the subway system.
Gentle Readers: It takes a strong person of good character to openly admit a lapse in judgment or poor behavior. When you find yourself in the situation of intentionally or accidentally hurting another, what is your response? What would you do if the person was a stranger whom you might never see again?
