Missed Connections in City of San Francisco
My Cigarette Case (ii)
My cigarette case
Holds a picture of you
– You were twenty-two –
And so young
when your hair
reached down
to your shoulders
We were cycling that day
Through the hills of Provence
– Stopped there to lunch –
We were shiny in love
and the waiter
so kindly
took this picture
My cigarette case
Holds a picture of you
And when I pull out a smoke
I’m reminded of you
And sad from the want
Of more days
like that picture

Note from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle Finder: The San Francisco MC receives tons of traffic and has a wide variety of messages. Until recently though, there wasn’t much poetry or freestyle writing to be found. My Cigarette Case (ii) is a heartfelt piece from sx – a writer who is forging the way for other SF poets to follow.
