Goodwill, Your Lamp Is Now My Lamp
Missed Connections in the City of San Francisco
So there i was minding my own business when i look over
and see you holding this wicked lamp.
Now focused on the lamp and thinking you’re going to buy it …
and you didn’t so I go in for the kill the light is mine…
before I take it I asked you why not the lamp ….
and we talked …
all the time we were both switched from the light to seeing if we liked each other…
I left with the light but I would’ve much rather have left with you in my arms…..
I really hope you find this posting or that we might bump into one another sometime and at least become good friends….
Note from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle Finder: Whether it’s in coffee shops, funky bars, walking through the Castro, or shopping in a second hand store, it seems like everyone in San Francisco has their eyes open and their laptops handy! Today we feature three special MCs from our San Francisco poets.
Her Two Cents on Goodwill, Your Lamp Is Now My Lamp
This lamp is your lamp, this lamp is my lamp, in San Francisco, Goodwill’s like day camp… The retro-fitted songs of Americana aside, our SF poet is training their spotlight on an individual who caught their attention at the local second-hand store. While they succeeded in procuring the material object of their desire, I think truer happiness would have been found had they lead with the heart’s intention and told them that “This lamp was made for you and me.”
Gentle Readers: There is so much talk about the degree of happiness in countries with high levels of earning and material goods versus those with lower levels. What do you think about this? Do material goods bring us happiness or is it human connections?
