Accidental Caramelization
as real as a gutter ball
we fall strike
three
into the dirt and
forever
hurt
it’s been 40 days of
dust and
pain
purple hearts
and yellow
rain
and i heard him say freedom
is just another word in
a car
commercial
before he was
inadvertently
tossed
and forever lost somewhere
between a memory and
nowhere
Her Two Cents on Accidental Carmelization
While he never signs his name, I believe this piece comes from Lee Taylor and when it first appeared on the Brroklyn MC the title “Accidental Carmelization” caused a bit of a copycat frenzy with other folks writing messages about carmelization. I wish I had saved all of them so that they could be displayed in a group… but alas, that is the fleeting nature of the MC. Here today and gone tomorrow.
Gentle Readers: When I look at this piece of writing there are so many little bits that I just love… “it’s been 40 days of dust and pain purple hearts and yellow rain” and “i heard him say freedom is just another word in a car commercial.” Do you have a line or lines you find interesting or appealing?
