No one says (new album) anymore
now it’s just a new
release
Note from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle Finder:
Today is National Record Store Day. Some of us old folks remember records and how much fun it could be getting your hands all grimy while flipping through the used-LP bins. Even if your turntable has long since disappeared, drop by your local store and look around – there’s still lots of great music out there (even if they don’t call them albums any longer…).
I miss records because they were made as whole pieces in two parts. Singles are great, too, and the formats of today have all kinds of advantages, but there’s a nerd-out aspect to crafting a complete LP that I’d like to see make a comeback some day.
Also, “new release” just sounds like a euphemism for orgasm.

Dude Whisperer, I couldn’t agree with you more – while CDs and DVDs have all sorts of extras and behind the scenes kind of stuff, the old LP was more about the entire listening experience – starting is side 1 song 1 and moving along. Plus, the pop and hiss was kind of cozy – a perfect set up for nocturnal emissions. š
