Note from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle Finder:
The MC for Maine is a surprisingly robust and active feed. Maybe it’s the abundance of trees or the cold, rocky coastline… today we feature a sample of what you’ll find there.
Missed Connections In Maine
Wild Irish Boy Down South
I will remember always
The first time we met
Outside the phone booth in Somerset
You were very funny
Your smile was infectious
Arms were so strong your kisses delicious
Her Two Cents on Wild Irish Boy Down South
This lightheartedly romantic piece from our Main poet is a nice contrast to the more serious, emotional writing we’ve featured today. The photograph by condestr of a person in a phonebooth – complete with wet glass and an overall chilly feeling – makes me think of the Maine coast after dark. You can almost hear the foghorns and smell the ocean.
Gentle Readers: So our lovelorn poet has fallen for a wild Irish rover… they’re not the first, and they won’t be the last! What is it that some people find so alluring about foreign accents and visitors from far-away lands? Is it an attraction to something that is exotic to our ear? Is there a particular accent that turns your insides to jelly?
