Note from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle Finder:
This is a very interesting note of appreciation from a woman who experienced a shoe “mishap” on a recent night out. What caught my attention in this message was the fact that she was grateful for not being laughed at and her general discomfort with socializing. Just goes to show how a little niceness and compassion can make a lasting impression.

The Street Ate My Boot
This is for the lovely blond girl who saw me lose the entire sole of my boot while crossing the street to the Qwest Center Saturday night. Thank you so much for your kind remark. My husband spent the rest of the evening making me feel even more self-conscious about it, apparently not realizing that a lot of women would’ve lost their sense of humor and insisted to be taken home right then and there. (Then again, he never liked those boots anyway. Oh well. I guess I will just have to spend more money on quality footwear from now on.)
I was mortified when it happened and didn’t recover quickly enough to thank you, but your comment helped me make it through the rest of the evening without bursting into tears and making an even bigger ass of myself. I don’t go out very often, so you saved a rare night out for both me and my companions. Too many people jump at the opportunity to laugh at another person’s expense. If there were more people like you the world would be a better place. 🙂 Thanks again.
