Missed Connections in Brooklyn, NY
The Purity of Laughter
I can feel your words tracing
my time worn veins
like a jazz drummer
your beats
search
like sonar for lost
fragments
and the rhythm
of your breath
blows
life into these
time worn
veins
and I remember the
purity of your
laughter
and how it
made me
smile
Her Two Cents on The Purity of Laughter
“…I remember the purity of laughter and how it made me smile.” I just love that line! Where would we be without our Brooklyn poets… 🙂 Despite the explicit reference to jazz this piece reminds me of an old, careworn musical instrument. A bit battered but still beautiful. If you like the artwork by Luis Leston, be sure to check out his Flickr page – he has a whole series devoted to different jazz and salsa instruments.
Gentle Readers: Whenever I find a piece of writing I really like I wonder if other readers feel the same way (or completely differently). What is your impression of it? Is there a part that resonates with you for a particular reason?
