Leaves skirt
across the earth
like school children
at recess
no purpose
or
sense of direction
just resounding abandon
as your heart
in want
ringing
chiming
pinging
under the bell tower
of reverberation
beat…beat…beat, hushed silence, breathe slow, close your eyes – sleep.

I love the imagery at the start of this piece from the Portland MC.  Linking blowing and tumbling leaves to the scurried activities of school children brings to mind the friendships and romances of our earlier days – and how exciting and dramatic they were.
