Jamaica Plains Alley Way
Missed Connections in Boston, MA
Last Friday night, when my surrogate mother was out on the town, I saw you for the first time.
You, with your Southeast Asian Siamese wedge-shaped head and wide set ears, slowly licking your elongated leg.
I was immediately engrossed by your scent of Purina Fancy Feast.
I could tell you were a classy jib.
You scattered away in haste as the night time garbage truck rode in from the West.
I pranced to your absent resting spot only to find a few parcels of biodegradable litter, which evaporated into the night with the passing mist.
If you happened to have noticed the short haired tabby watching you from the across the alley then please meet me tonight between 6:45-7:15pm at the alley way.
I have piercing green eyes and I will be wearing my orange fur coat.

This message confirms what I have long thought – that cats are truly superior in intelligence to dogs. While we have seen many, many, messages written about dogs, I have never once come across a message written by one dog to another. Boston is home to a very large number of institutions of higher learning so it’s not surprising that the feline population is above average. 🙂
Gentle Readers: Once upon a time, many years ago, I worked with a woman who had distinctively feline characteristics – the way she held her hands, how she would look at you, her physical movements… all reminded me of a cat (of which she owned several). It’s said that when humans are in groups, they often adopt and emulate certain behaviors. Could this also be true of people with their pets?
