Wrote This for You
Missed Connections in Western Massachusetts
at your side
i have not left your side, but you no longer feel me there
i sit in silence beside you, there is nothing i need to share
i place my hands together, i bow my head in peace
i sit here because there is no other who brings this silence to me
the world seems so beautiful when my mind is at peace
i don’t hear the chatter and my body is at ease
this place beside you has taught me all i did not know
this space is of more value than a place i once thought to go
there is no meaning to those walls that others cherish so much
the space between them has more value than the walls that others need to touch
so please allow me to continue to sit in that space beside you
i will sit in silence and in peace and maybe someday you will sit for a few moments too
NOTE FROM THE MISSED CONNECTIONS CHIEF BOTTLE FINDER:
My enjoyment of this poem increases with each reading but the role of the “sitter” remains mysterious. Sometimes I think it is the perspective of a spiritual being, other times I think it could be from the viewpoint of a cat or dog… I just don’t know. What do you think?
