My Dog Noticed You Before I Did
Missed Connections in Raleigh / Durham / CH
I was walking the dog Sunday morning near the corner of St. Mary’s and Morgan Streets and my dog froze.
I was walking ahead and it took me a while to notice she froze to stare into your car, and she wouldn’t move.
Something about you fascinated her enough to look at you the whole light cycle while I tried to move her on across towards Boylan.
You started laughing and I saw that beautiful smile in my head all day.
Contact me with the kind of car you were driving if you might be interested in hanging out with the puppy, and me.
NOTE FROM THE MISSED CONNECTIONS CHIEF BOTTLE FINDER:
Can I tell you how much I love this old photo that Doc Searls has on his Flickr page? Just looking at it makes me feel good! What happy, healthy pup doesn’t respond favorably to a warm smile and a possible car ride? Let’s hope our lovelorn poet and their four-legged furry friend have many fun travels with the laughing driver.

Aww, this is sweet.

I love the photo, too. Seems like the cars of days gone by were much more dog friendly! (Not that I’m willing to give up seat-belts and shatter-proof glass, tho’! 🙂

Thanks for finding a great use for this old photo. The original is here, and I’m guessing at the date. Since the car is a ’31 Ford Model A, it’s after that. Most likely it’s in New Jersey, and the woman is a family friend or relative. (Hate to say I don’t recognize her.)
By the way, I spent much of my life in North Carolina, and most of that in the Triangle. My last business was in Raleigh, and I can almost call the corner of St. Mary’s and West Morgan to mind, on the southwest side of downtown. (Which had changed much the last time I visited there.)
Again, thanks for using the shot, and for a great site.

You are very welcome! Discovering photos through Flickr Creative Commons is great, but making the discovery that the photo I selected was posted by YOU is even cooler. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my email and comment here. The Cluetrain Manifesto and DEC is Dead Long Live DEC are two of the most influential and thought-provoking technology/business books I have ever read. Thank you!
