Half of My Life
Missed Connections in Savannah / Hinesville
I have loved you for half of my life now
Pretty much since the day we met.
Even though the circumstances were horrible, you still became my friend.
I have looked out for you all this time, tried to be what ever you needed.
But you never needed me.
I told you once how I felt but we never discussed it after that.
I doubt we ever will again because,
I have come to depend on your existence in my world.
You are the star at the center of my universe.
Losing you would be losing the sun.
I would wither, and perish alone in the darkness.
So I remain silent in the vain hope that your company in any capacity will be enough.
NOTE FROM THE MISSED CONNECTIONS CHIEF BOTTLE FINDER:
Today we’re featuring three missed connections from the Savannah stream. This tortured bit of longing caught my ear not because of its over-ripe melodrama but because the title reminded me of Frank Sinatra’s classic, “That’s Life.” A tune our lovelorn poet may want to consider putting on auto-repeat.
