Missed Connections in Athens, GA
Dearest. That word falls out of my mouth like ashes. I don’t expect you to speak with me; I’ll leave you alone. I’ll be quick and to the point. I’m sorry and don’t mean anything that I said. This last month with you was magic and great, and I obviously didn’t deserve it. I’m better for having known you, just not better enough to be civil.
So I’ll sit in my room under my tarp and hope I’m lucky enough to dream about you now and then. Now that I’ve lost all of my friends (no exaggeration), I can devote more time to my hobbies: nostalgia and bitterness. I’m going to leave town as soon as I can sell all of my shit.
I know I don’t deserve to say it, but I love you. I don’t care if you forgive me. Don’t, in fact. Just be happy and forget about me.
NOTE FROM THE MISSED CONNECTIONS CHIEF BOTTLE FINDER:
The Athens MC has been one of my favorites since the start but in the last few months it’s been low on romance and fun and high on tortured souls, pain, and suffering. I wasn’t sure what kind of image I wanted to use for this missed connection, but when I saw The Siren by Dionne Hartnett I knew it was the perfect match (plus, she has an equally dark piece of writing on her Flickr page that’s worth visiting).

I am so honored that you felt such a connection to this photo (I am also known as “gogoloopie,” on flickr… :)! This photo/edit was purely experimental – I’m actually very novice when it comes to anything photoshop-esque (I know nothing of photoshop actually – all edits on all my photos have been done on my iPhone)….! I love the coupling the emotive words and the photo, it really does seem to create a nice rhythm…! Thank you again – most people don’t ever tell me when they use my work – not that I mind so much – I just really enjoy seeing how it is used/interpreted/added/critiqued/etc. Thank you for giving me that opportunity here! I love the work and I’d be very appreciative if you would allow me to post this on my blog, http://mylovelymuse.blogspot.com ? I think the words really give new life to the photo…! 🙂 Either way, I thank you very much!!
you definitely have a bookmark now on my menu bar – I’m exited to explore a bit!! 🙂

Thank you so much Dionne – your image is captivating in a dark, slightly creepy way (but I’m also reading The Historian right now so that may be effecting my view!) that was perfect for the missed connections message. I look forward to checking out your blog as well! Have a great day.

thank you (I think)! I’m glad that you found something that resonated with you. Being slightly prone to moodiness, along with my dad’s passing, I’m sure added to the “dark, slightly creepy way.” This particular edit was also done for an instagram creepiest photo contest – or something of that nature… It was a while ago. 🙂

Hi Dionne, Yes, we certainly understand and appreciate the slightly creepy, the moody, and the dark aspects. Love the photos you post on your blog – very cool composition and color. Thanks for commenting!
