Don’t You Take this Away,
I’m Still Wanting My Face on Your Cheek.
Missed Connections in Manhattan
I keep finding your socks
all of them black,
all beneath my bed.
Bridges and benches alone,
an appalling idea.
I’m here in wait,
indefinitely.
NOTE FROM THE MISSED CONNECTIONS CHIEF BOTTLE FINDER:
“Bridges and benches alone, an appalling idea.” I find that to be an incredibly sad line. In some ways, realizing there will be no future memories is worse than discovering the remnants of memories past. Is waiting indefinitely the right thing to do? I’m not sure, but we’re all waiting for something, aren’t we?
