Missed Connections in Seattle-Tacoma
The seat next to me was empty.
The play not very entertaining
It was the thought of you walking in
And filling that empty seat
Placing my hand in yours
That kept me from leaving.

Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
It’s difficult to tell if our poet wrote this from the perspective of anticipating the imminent arrival of another or from the view of a person who waited for an appearance that did not happen. I think it’s the words, “It was the thought of you walking in…” that creates the uncertainty. Did the thought materialize into a person sitting next to them or did it stay a hopefully wish?
