You Seemed to Enjoy the Rose
Missed Connections in Manhattan
You were sitting next to me on the Q train heading to Queens.
You were carrying your palate mat…You got off near 42nd.
There was a gentleman pan-handling roses and I gave him a donation.
I asked him to give the rose to you.
As you left I wished you a Happy Thanksgiving.
I have been thinking about you all evening and I hope this works, although I am not too confident about it.
Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
What a sweet message to end our week on! I hope the rose recipient enjoyed their unexpected gift, even if the sentiment expressed by our poet isn’t mutual. Sometimes the simple act of doing is more important than the outcome. Just something to think about as we launch into our weekend activities…

Just wondering, do these usually include contact information? If so, what made you decide not to include it?

Good question – sometimes these messages will include a name and there’s always a reference to the genders of the individuals involved. However, I always remove them and try my best to make the messages as gender neutral as possible. I think it makes the language more universal and keeps people from focusing too much on sexual identity.
