Tattoo for You
Missed Connections in Anchorage
Today I mark myself as yours
Though you have run away in fear
I hold you in my heart
A sun rising to show the truth of life
You will never return but your gift remains
I mark myself to never forget your gift.

Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
I’m one of those rare individuals who does not yet have a tattoo. My reluctance has historically been one part fear of pain and one part uncertainty over what image or word would be worthy of making a lifetime commitment to – even if the person, place, or thing that it is inspired by is no longer in your life. I like our Anchorage poet’s decision to honor a gift that was given to them. It’s not always about the people – sometimes it’s about remembering the lessons they bring.
