Missed Connections in Ithaca
I’ve never done anything like this in my life, and I’m actually nervous in doing so. I was at the mountain the other day waiting for my girlfriends ski to be repaired. You and I had a connection. When we were about to leave, our eyes locked and it was at that moment that I knew there was definitely chemistry between us. I’m an avid poetry reader, so to show you how I felt at that moment I wrote you this poem.
Repair man, repair man lend me your hand.
I’ll take it so gently, if you’ll be my man.
You fixed the ski and caught my eye,
I knew right then, you were my guy.
Your cute little puppy, with her little pink collar
Made me want to scream and holler.
When we’re in bed with one another,
I’ll scream for you and not your brother.
I think you said your name was Randy,
I’ll take you home and give free candy.
Your speckled face made my heart skip a beat,
I hope one day, again we’ll meet.

Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
This WPA poster from 1938 claims that “they like winter in New York State” I can’t really agree with that (especially as it’s about 75 degrees right now) but clearly our writin’ -n-rhymin’ poet from Ithaca does! Hopefully the offer of free candy is enticing enough to attract Randy Repair-man…
