Artist Underlining Passages in The Original Self
Missed Connections in Rhode Island
I’m reading this book now and I’m wondering who you are
(you left your receipt of all the books you checked out in this one).
I know, it’s weird, but if you could know who reads the same books,
wouldn’t it be helpful for finding and collecting other people on the same wavelength?
If you’re the one who did the underlining,
you are an artist of some sort, maybe an art teacher.
I love the passages you underlined,
but I could kick your ass for defacing a library book!

Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
Thomas Moore’s Original Self is all about living authentically in a world embracing conformity. I suppose the same could be said of the “defiant defacer” of library books. I rolled my eyes a little bit at Music Guru Guy Benoit‘s selection of this Simon & Garfunkel song but this early performance video is quite good (and there may be some Providence-insider reference here as Brown’s Rockefeller Library is referred to as “The Rock”. If Mr. Benoit is seen roaming the film archives in the middle of the night please direct him homeward bound…)
