An Essence of Iridescence
Missed Connections in Brooklyn
1
magenta is the color of the dust that dances
in between the branches of the
green trees
which sit in the shade of
the golden sun
and orange is the color of
sunshine
before the droplets of blue
rain
soak the earth a deep
rich brown
and life is the color of
light
because even tonight
you glow

Be kind
enjoy the sunshine
move your body in nature
and make everyone feel at ease

Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
Autumn might be the time of year when the colors in nature become most visually arresting but it’s the springtime that’s my favorite. The yellows, purples, blues, and bright greens are a feast for the eyes after a winter of brown and grey. I don’t know what time of year Denis Collette took this photograph, but the colors reminded me of my spring favorites and captured the iridescence of Lee Taylor’s poem.
