Sad Girl
Missed Connections in Elmira
You came through my line at Walmart today with your friend, looking really down.
I couldn’t help but overhear that someone had made you feel this way,
and I want you to know that whoever it is isn’t worth it if they can make such a beautiful girl cry.
If you ever need a friendly ear, I can be there for you.
Doubt you’ll ever see this, but if you do send me an email with the subject being the one item you purchased from me tonight.
Or conversely, find me again at Walmart.
Her Two Cents from the Missed Connections Chief Bottle-Finder:
I think we often underestimate a stranger’s ability to notice and attend to the world around them. We’re so frequently surrounded by stories of people turning a blind-eye to large and small atrocities that it’s easy to assume we operate in an environment virtually ignored by others we don’t know. Messages like this one remind me that the people I come across during my day do still see, think, and feel. What about you? What have you noticed about a passer-by today?
