A Box Of Cassette Tapes And Missing You
Missed Connections from Boston
I found a box of tapes that used to belong to you.
Eddie Money and Brighton Rock just to name a few.
I have been keeping these too long with my feelings for you.
It made me realize that it’s time to let things go.
I loved you more than I like to remember
and more than you will ever know.
Your music I turned into MP3s,
my feelings for you to empathy.
I don’t have room for either of you
in my house or in my heart.
I still think of you and miss you every day.
I wish the feelings would just go away.
Maybe in another 30 years I can forget you.
Her Two Cents
There are always some songs we associate with a particular person – but it’s extra crummy when they remind you of a relationship gone wrong (especially when it’s an album or song that you formerly enjoyed listening to). While an MP3 might be easy to delete from a playlist, tangible items like records, tapes, and CDs serve as physical reminders of a different time. You either have to re-program yourself to no longer think about the past or find new favorites. Not sure which one is the easier…
