Fugitive Pigments
Missed Connections in Savannah
Tossed and turned by Turner’s sea,
I dream I am the rise and fall
of waves that hold you in eternity;
while you–in my arms asleep–
dream you are the oil in Titian’s
Orpheus and Eurydice.

Her Two Cents
There’s nothing like discovering a little Missed Connections mystery to turn an ordinary old Monday inside out. While searching on the word “dream” for an interesting piece of writing to accompany this beautiful song by Shelia Chandra, I noticed a poem with almost identical titles posted on two different feeds – NYC and Savannah – an hour apart. This piqued my curiosity and by searching on the signature, unearthed The Journal Of Bison Jack, a blog of original poetry authored by Jason Armstrong Beck, a photographer, filmmaker, and writer in NYC. While the story of Orpheus and Eurydice is tragic, a dark beauty lies in Titan’s depiction. Will the southern painter discover this “message in a bottle” or are Bison Jack’s words doomed to be battered about on the stormy seas of Craigslist?
