A Challenge
Missed Connections in Athens
How is music always more than a sum of its parts?
What gives a smell the power to transport?
Why do I tremble at your touch and quiver at your kiss?
If we only had our five senses with which to navigate
Surely we could go far.
Wander deep, cool woods
Get lost on balmy, golden shores
Hole up in rainy port towns listening for distant ship horns…
But can you really go anywhere without your heart?
Her Two Cents
Can you go anywhere without your heart? Yes, I suppose you can and I’m sure many people do. Shut down the feelings, ignore the intuition from our gut, selectively curtail our senses so we only see, hear, smell, taste, and touch those experiences designed to keep us safely cocooned. But what a flat, monochromatic existence that would be. Why settle for carefully packaged parts when you can fall head-first into a forever-expanding wonder-filled world?
