The Rhythm Of Our Movements
Missed Connections in Brooklyn

Running is one of the most beautiful things a living
creature does, the transition from one limb
to the other
this forward progression and delicate dance
of body and breath is older
than we know
these ancient rhythms live inside us all
but to uncover them and
rediscover
the elegance and purity of our history
disguised as simple movements
while we explore
our environment is
priceless

We were running on a distant trail
far away from everything
except us
Her Two Cents
Our world is filled with so much movement that we often fail to notice it. The speeding of the cars, leaves and branches blowing in the wind, our bodies as we reach for the coffee while juggling a ringing cell phone and three-year-old tugging at our leg. Quick, responsive motions are automatic and forgettable but the slow, thoughtful ones: tai chi in a room of blooming orchids, a run through the woods in autumn, lying in a field as the darkness appears, can stay with us for a star’s lifetime.
