Missed Connections in Athens
To The Monkey
You hang upside-down,
and so does our love.
That’s okay though –
I’ve never quite been drawn
to downside-down love.
I hope we’ll have bananas together again,
even just as friends swinging in the trees.
I’ve never needed your kisses –
only your ugly monkey smiles.
I’ll always have room in my tree
to sit and eat bananas with you.
Her Two Cents
I just love how how this poem starts off, “You hang upside-down, and so does our love.” Being downside-up can result in some initial fear (when was the last time you did a headstand, handstand, or let the grip of your knees swing you from a bar?) but results in a total shift in perspective. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change. 🙂
