Missed Connections in Las Vegas
Peace
so many voices chanting free verse
are we one among many
or many within one
violence, longing
resistance, acceptance
questions
more perfectly ourselves we become with each breath
useful data withheld
it matters not
questions scattered into the wind
prayer flags and paper boats
immaculate self immolation
all is burned away but the still point
Yggdrasil rooted
Iktomi, Anansi, Coyote
innocent or malicious
it matters not
all interaction is holy
~ Susie Hewitt, that crazy Las Vegas poet
Her Two Cents
I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the day has come for Las Vegas to eclipse both the Brooklyn and Manhattan missed connections feeds for sheer volume of poetry, stories, and other forms of non-traditional poems and messages. I’ve yet to determine if all this creative output is the result of one or two individuals working independently or if there’s a larger group of people acting in concert, but the activity is near-daily and varies considerably. Regardless, the perpetrators are clearly following the “what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas” motto because there’s nary a bit of disclosure or self-promotion to be found (yet).
