I dreamed a river, and it was full
Of all the things we ever said
To each other, and to others
Nipping at our toes
I fished a line, double time
Caught a rumor, silvered in the sun
I put it with the others
Which we filleted, boned and saved
For sandwiches in the shade

The Eugene, OR missed connections is typically pretty sleepy, but recently a flurry of Queen of Crows poems, letters, and stories (and their subsequent responses, rebuttals, and rejections) appeared. There is a short story titled, “Queen of Crows” by Monica Valentinelli (available in digital and print formats) but I don’t know if these pieces of writing are a kind of creative, fan-fiction response or something else entirely. May need to investigate this one further!

Sabine,
Regarding the recent posts in Eugene, Oregon Missed Connections, “Queen of Crows”…. The poetry was written for me by my exfiance of 8 years, Erik . We separated our household in spring of this year, and have been working toward a reconnection. I personally have an affinity with crows; were ever I go they call out to me or fly down etc. It is to my understanding that is why he chose the title. Though we text, email, and / or talk on the phone daily, he knows I read Missed Connections, and elected to post to me there. When I read the very first one, it took my breath away, and I cried. I knew it was from him to me before I had the chance to ask him. Recently another poster on Craigslist has attempted mimic his posts to me, but who are they fooling, a connected heart will always know the words of their lover. As to where things will go for us, not sure, but we have a date again tomorrow night, and I am looking forward to sharing with him what I found on your site.
Best to you.
