I look at her words thru glass
the way one looks at the Declaration of Independence
And I have two copies
One is a Xerox
that stays in my left shirt pocket
like an invisible protector
The other hangs on my wall
Better than the best Picasso
And when I feel the weight of my scars
I look at her words
