‘Really good’ French toast
must be fluffy and crispy
with maple syrup.
We try on a lot of different hats, (and shirts) when we are out there, “looking for love”. We try to highlight our strengths, and hide our (bulges) weaknesses.
In our scramble to be appealing, I wonder if we lose some sense of who we are? Do we try too hard to be something new? Or if we will behave differently to others when we find a partner?
Sometimes we find ourselves changing our preferences to smooth over potential differences.
“Sure. Non-fat milk is cool. I never really liked all that delicious half-&-half I was using all my life…”
I prefer to think we do have chances to become what we want to be, and that the changes we make to ourselves along the way are improvements we can be happy with, and not just incidental souvenirs of this life we are leading.
Missed Connections are filled with good, bad, and crispy-fluffy-haiku. Did you write one? Did you find one? Did you eat one? Before you tuck into your serving (or grab a second helping), email the link to Lovelorn Poets. We’ll preserve those deliciously appealing syllables for all eternity.
