A really bad day
reminds us of what it is
to have a good one.
Sometimes a very bad day can feel like a bad week.
Sometimes it really is a whole week, or month or more of total ‘this sucks’.
Sometimes it is, ‘the worst day of your life’. Mathematically there must be one.
Hopefully it’s not this week or today, for you, but if not, the point is,
that you have already lived through it.
The worst day, and your best day of your life, at least so far.
Looking back though, hopefully the worst day ever was not this week,
or month, but some time ago. You survived it.
And our most shining, golden day to date too.
If it isn’t today then it is in the past.
So?
So, maybe we can get some perspective by realizing that struggle and ease,
fortune or mishap are fluid elements in our daily lives
and that way maybe we won’t be so surprised or derailed by the challenges we face.
All of my days live on the scale between the worst and best day I’ve ever had,
maybe some more average, and others high or low.
I live through them all. We live through them, and live on to hope
for a new ‘best’, and to avoid a new ‘worst’.
When things get tough, I can still remember when it was worse,
and that seems to give me a little courage to keep on going.
Another hill to climb, or the same one again.
And to keep on focusing and doing what I can control,
and worry less about what I can’t.
