Feeling overwhelmed
means not being able to
complete just one task.
My teacher says that when we get overwhelmed,
it feels like we not only can’t conquer the mountain
of to-dos in front of us, we can’t even seem to get the
easiest one of the bunch accomplished.
That’s how overloaded we manage to get ourselves.
We “let” ourselves go all the way to the point
where we can’t get any of the to-dos, “done”.
So we (are tempted to) do nothing.
But not me. I can’t stop completely, or just quit doing anything at all.
I live in a world with others. I don’t have that choice.
So, what can I do then?
I do one thing.
I start with one thing. I do it. And then on to the next one thing.
Then maybe three things can get crossed off the list.
So, I start with breathing.
Just breathing.
I breathe first, and get that done.
(“Like, ‘There, I did it’.”)
Then I know I’m not completely overwhelmed anymore.
Then call, correct, reply, pay, arrange, remember, work, wash, sort.
Whatever it is,
each one
eventually.
.
..
.
still breathing.
