Peace,
An elusive phantom,
A fabled state of existence,
Sought for so long, evading my grasp.
Amidst crumbling walls and dead wet ashes
It slipped through my fingers;
Decidedly, a myth.
But somehow, suddenly,
Without expectation,
Without warning,
Without explanation.
Out of the blue, my heart has found its
Peace.
It may be cold outside, but my heart is very, very warm.
Over the years, I only ever found a few poems posted on the Memphis Missed Connections, but they were all ones I wanted to preserve and/or use as the springboard for my own creative explorations. Not sure if I still have any more in the archives…. this may be the last poem I saved from that Craigslist location.
