After Michele
I crossed online paths
with Casey
and we would
talk
about
this
and she told me about
her relative
who would
sing
in Flagstaff
and I told her about
the Corn Palace
in
Mitchell
South Dakota
and how it was covered
with corn
stalks
s talk ing
and when I walked there
The Palace was closed
and I still haven’t heard
the relative sing
—
Some guys are creepy
I know
and I’m sure
I have been there
once or twice
and might be again
but at some point
if you are with a guy
long enough
he’s gonna be creepy
he will cry
as he tries
to pee
cr eep y
🙂

Here’s another poem from the Flagstaff Missed Connections. Between the time when I found this poem several years ago, and now, I can say that I have visited the Corn Palace in Mitchell, South Dakota! It’s kind of an ornate, ever-changing community center but there’s a fascinating exhibit showing photographs of the palace, taken from the same location, every year since it was built in 1892. The postcard image above shows what it looked like in 1954.
