I love the fact that in the US we have different cultures that come together in order to create a society like no other place on earth. It doesn’t come free of trouble but if given time to develop it creates a gift that is special and it’s one of the things that makes living in the US so unique. Tolerance must be taught by all sides but sometimes it becomes necessary to serve up a major serving of humble pie to break the ego’s of petty tyrants. All of this happens in time and since time is an illusion it means it’s happening as we speak.
All we have to do is accept our brokenness then we can do the repairs needed to take us to another level of awareness.
What is Wabi-sabi?
The following is a quotation that was taken from the web…..
“Over time, the meanings of wabi and sabi shifted to become more lighthearted and hopeful. Around 700 years ago, particularly among the Japanese nobility, understanding emptiness and imperfection was honored as tantamount to the first step to satori, or enlightenment. In today’s Japan, the meaning of Wabi-sabi is often condensed to “wisdom in natural simplicity.” In art books, it is typically defined as “flawed beauty.”
I liked this interesting opinion piece that was posted on the San Francisco Missed Connections – maybe two years ago? FYI – Kintsugi is the Japanese art of repairing broken pottery with lacquer dusted or mixed with powdered gold, silver, or platinum. As a philosophy, it treats breakage and repair as part of the history of an object, rather than something to disguise.
