the expression my bad
is forced upon our ears
by unknowing tongues
and soon these tongues
will appear at our door
along with our families
as thanksgiving is forced
upon us
these tongues will sample our food
and let us know
the turkey is too dry
the mashed potatoes are too dry
the rolls are too dry
we’ll have one too many drinks
and the tongues will let us know
we haven’t stayed dry

there will be only one thing
