My light its seeming to fade away
Drifting further day by day
Violet gasps, setting sun behind
Only wishing stars left to remind
Of summers dream awakened by force
A shooting star that changes course
Could it be lost, was it even real
Was it just what a heart longs to feel
The warmth that shines on hibernating soul
Forbidden piece that makes us whole
Return again to life’s choice made
A consequence we can’t evade.
Dream again of a path not taken
Any chance afforded no will forsaken
To bask again in that amber light
I wish I may, I wish I might
September is here and with it all of the seasonal changes we’ve grown to expect. Perhaps it’s because this month is traditionally associated with the start of school that we’ve come to assume there will be new beginnings (and some wistful endings).
