Is it our lovelorn Brooklynite talking about hands or politics? Regardless, Vacon Sartirani’s illustration,”autopsy of a hand,” is fascinating in its detail and presentation –  almost as if a garden of eden is bursting forth from the flesh.  A reminder that whether you’re blue, red, green, or some other color in-between, you’re still a part of the entire spectrum.

I saw you today during a poetry reading and thought that not only were your words beautiful, but I think that you may be one of the most attractive girls on campus.
You are strikingly gorgeous, and I hope someday maybe I’ll muster the courage to ask you on a date.
During a conversation we had today you said that you like to read these from time to time, so i hope you’ll read this and know it’s me.

Influences: Primitive man. The insane.
I admire surrealists like Matta, Ernst & Lam, and dadaists like Tzara, Schwitters & Ball.
Bosch.
Bruegel and Bacon figure in there somewhere as well.

Preferred Work Environment: At home, alone, at night, with music.

My Process: I make hundreds of molds of toys and stones, then I press clay partially into more than one mold.

Wrapped Too Tight

Philosophy: You will never come up with something totally new, no matter how hard you try. Chalk it up to the persistence of human endeavor, and then get to work remixing, mashing-up and re-interpreting the world As You See It.

Meandering through Jay’s work is like peeking into a curious old shop filled with relics from the past. Sometimes a description of the object is provided and other times you’re left wondering for yourself. A little hesitant, a little bemused, you continue forward into the labyrinth of faces… Thank you, Jay, for giving us the creepy-sensual-murky-depths of Fish Girl and all the other creatures in her realm.

Can I tell you how I love this funky little iPhone illustration from Creative Commons Flickr artist Valeria BEEBY? Not only does it fit perfectly with the whole “egg” theme that our Manhattan MC-er has going, but I thought it provided an amusing answer to the question posed at the very end. “…we’re everything except…:)” Hopefully they’ll still be smiling when the dragon arrives!

Apparently the moon is in the “Stupid” phase …again….
as so many struggle harder to try to figure out what the heck is going on?
“Maps” are needed to find “Lost” minds.
Duct tape and super glue are still being used at alarming rates.
Another box of “Lucky Charms” cereal is cracked open and suns…hearts…moons…and clover are pasted across many monitors.

I’m not so sure if the phases of the moon have anything to do with people engaging in random acts of dumbness, but I am curious to know what this message is attempting to communicate.  This whimsical photo by Jessie Terwilliger, whose work has previously appeared on Lovelorn Poets,  is a perfect match – the two creatures appear lost (sinking almost) in the sea of candy colored marshmallows. Lucky indeed!
