The Color of Dust by mindgallery

Magenta is the color of the dust that dances
in between the branches of
the green
trees

which sit in the shade of the golden sun
and orange is the color of
sunshine

before the droplets of blue rain
soak the earth a deep
rich brown

and a rainbow is simply
an optical illusion
of light

reminding us that the earth
is full of magical
things

just waiting to
happen

As we ease into early September, now is the time to appreciate and enjoy the still-colorful natural world that’s around us. The earth is full of magical things just waiting to happen and winter will be one of them.

Sunrise believer– who could care?
When I reach there’s nothing there.
When I speak the world is blank
If I try to see or think.
From the start the burning sky
Lit the spirit of my eye;
Lifelong believer– who could see
The colors that are trapped in me?
Now along the mindless roads
Machines drag around worthless loads;
Fire quickly slumps to gray,
Ashamed of its awkward display.

I saved this long-ago poem from the Western Mass Missed Connections because I love the line, “who could see The colors that are trapped in me?” We’ll soon be entering a grey time (on many levels, not just the approach of winter) and it’s more important than ever that we hold on to our colorful and vibrant selves. Burning skies are available to us throughout the year to keep us amazed and energized. Believe in the sunrise, believe in the sunset.

A Moral Dilemma by mindgallery

In as little as an hour a small tiny
flower bloomed
today

and in a world full of hospitals
but very little
healing

you may as well paint your
ceiling sky blue and
dream

and in a moment when the
sun lights the earth and
turns the sky
blue

you’ll sip your frozen
karmic cocktail
and

hope it wasn’t
you

I once lived in an apartment where the landlord allowed me to paint a room (including the ceiling) so that it looked like the sky. I used a sponge painting technique, three shades of blue ranging from very pale to sky blue, and water to create various dilutions. The process was quite a bit of work, but the end result was lovely. It was a perfect place to dream.

feels like a breath of

air

clown

turns into a bird
