you are intriguing
wondering who you could be
beautiful poems
a true gem of the missed connections section
And every once in awhile, the Seattle Missed Connections haiku writer would receive a haiku in response. 🙂
From Anchorage to Zebulon: In Search of Missed Connections
So many people so heavily
invested in the
world
& the thing is i learned
this a long time
ago
it’s all a shit show but
sometimes people
glow
and save us from

This mindgallery poem first appeared a few years ago on the Brooklyn Missed Connections but it easily could have been written recently. Heartbreak and sadness seem to have no time limit in this world. Fortunately, the same applies to those who glow.
the virtuous
modest
hopelessly flawed
entirely beautiful
content in her space
unwavering
in this ever changing world
the friend of few
the foe of many
the loner
the invisible
resurrected they hear
in the distance
a thundering
Brontide
breaking the silence
a great vision unveiled
an awakening
of her heart
Ablaze
the dark horse rises
lambent; glowing in twilight
Over the years, I did find some very interesting pieces of poetry on the London Missed Connections. But this was the first and only piece to come out of Liverpool. It reminds me to look through my files to find more works from places that are not yet represented on my list (which is already long but there’s always room for more).
A crowded bus stop
can bring a group together.
But each feels alone.
I am back to my old tricks again. I’m smiling at strangers and saying, “Hello,” and “Good morning,” or even “Happy Wednesday!” (at least on Wednesdays.)
It a lot easier to do that now that the weather has been so sunny, and hot. People are outside more, strolling a bit slower, and looking up and around more than during those rainy and windy days.
And I like when they smile back and say, “Hi.” When it happens, we share a real (though fleeting) connection.
We both feel it; refreshing like running under the sprinkler just for that moment. Except less wet.
So, if you see me out there tomorrow, give me a wave, or just mouth, ‘hello’ (if you are with the boss or someone like that.)
Haiku for Hopefuls and the various “spins-offs” it inspired spent a great deal of time exploring relationships (either real or “hopeful”) but every once in awhile there was a post that was a bit more solitary in nature. Sometimes you need to walk alone for a bit before you can find someone to walk by your side.
Friday
lost and morally bankrupt it was 3 days

Saturday
sitting in a fertile hot house of noble
intentions, watching frozen
layers
of ancient glacial ice, melt into one
giant puddle of human
neglect
Sunday
we convene out back in a room that
transforms garbage
into musical instruments and
every once in a while
we flew
or at least we try to
find

mindgallery wrote several variations of the “Every Day is Earth Day” poem on the Brooklyn Missed Connections – you can typically spot which ones they are by the “lost and morally bankrupt” line (which, IMHO, is a perfect launching point for any literary exploration). This version is from many years ago, back when the photograph of the Bansky mural was in heavy rotation.
