I still think you are pretty stellar.
Not sure what happened.
Everything seems to have come to a screeching halt.
I thought it was heading somewhere that could be pure bliss for us both.
But, alas, I guess I am not the best at reading these things.
I’ll still be a friend and maybe one day it will materialize the way I had imagined it would.

Your hippie truck made me remember how much I miss you, when I spotted you driving down Old 23. I know it’s unlikely you’ll ever read this so it’s an easy, and ‘cop-out’, place to say- losing you is one of my biggest regrets. It’s sad knowing that you still have nightmares and I’m not a phone call away. I hate missing your excitement when you do cool new things. It’s strange no longer getting calls from you that end-up lasting hours. Even your weird music and tendency to get every story completely wrong has left a void. The best part, if you ever found out I wrote this- you’d call me a jerk. And that’s why I love you.

Old trucks with hand crank windows and push-button am radios have a persona all of their own – and the individuals who drive them are no different. Sounds like the object of our poet’s letter has as many secrets and stories as that old truck – and with the same no-frills, tell it like it is attitude as well.

This NYC missed connection references an interesting point – how easily one can become addicted to “trolling” for messages with personal meaning. Is it possible to have your dearest wish come true only to see it turned upside down? Absolutely.

Missed Connections in Manhattan

While away I had a cookie with a fortune inside that said, “Your dearest wish will come true.” It gave me hope because I was so afraid that I was never going to see you again. Every song that I listened while away reminded me of you. I went to bed thinking that maybe we had telepathy. Then I saw you when I came home – or so I thought – the day after I told myself – “This is crazy, you don’t even know what he looks like anymore! Get over it.” I couldn’t believe I saw you finally – or so I thought. It gave me more hope. I saved that fortune in my wallet. I don’t know what happened to it – but I still hope it was right. If you love me you will understand that I have to work, I like work, and I don’t want to screw it up (because I don’t want to leave NY), and if I keep this up (“trolling” this damn site) I will, so I’m going to be disciplined and stop if not for us, then for me. This place is crazy and confusing – but my love for you really isn’t. It’s pretty basic… unconditional.

I remember the first meeting, the first hug, the first kiss.. As well as I remember the last kiss, the last hug and the goodbye.. I regret not kissing you last time when I said goodbye.. It has been months now, I thought I could push away all my thoughts and emotions.. They haunt me when I least expect it.. I am not sure if I should cry or smile.. I miss you more than you would ever know, more than I could admit to myself.. I love you still.. I wanted to be set free so here I am afloat wishing to land soon..
