Good question. Sometimes it does and sometimes it seems to disappear. But when we go, we won’t really know, will we?
Sometimes it’s so deep in our heart
that it emanates from
our breath
and in the right light or shift in
the air, you can still hear
the memories
like antiques with
tongues

On the Brooklyn Missed Connections, mindgallery published three other poems using the title, “The Sound of Memory” and each one was different, although similar in theme and tone. However, this image was used twice, perhaps as it was a more fitting visual memory to accompany the sound of the text.
Your music slides in slowly through the side door
a soft pitter patter with
a gentle
beat
and like a taste of honey creamed thoughts
softly blowing through the trees
and towards the
west
we walked quietly through the moonlit night
our toes knowing more than
words can
say

It’s always fun to discover that a saved mindgallery poem also contains an image I hadn’t previously seen. This one is a perfect summertime moon shine.
On another day with the sun to the east
we’d be dreaming
together
your hair light and lit by the summer air
and in another world with the
sky swirled
around us while we swayed
we’d hold on tight
and
sleep away the night
with our bodies
so light
once

Hello Summer! The solstice is here and with it the longest daylight of the year. “Our Light” from mindgallery and the Brooklyn Missed Connections feels like a good fit for this special day.
* Note To Self
Dancing on ocean liners, watching polar bears
transcendentalist and seed
bearing winds
covered in tire tracks & waiting
for the rain
listening to the countdown
slowly rewinding
walking through an artificial forest
and looking for something
that isn’t there
