he liked walking thru libraries
looking at all of the great books
by the so called great authors
who had time to read all of this
there must be an easier way
he wasnt a writer,poet, novelist, memorist, author
any of it
he wasnt much more than nothing
an easier way was all he wanted
and all he did to make it simple for himself
was turn the letters of literature into

I got the call when I was in Ohio
She said she had been vacuuming the house
with the door open
when the dog had run away
I told her to call the police
and a little later she said
the dog had been found
and now the dog had been sent to her room
without food
and I’m sure
as much as that dog hated the vacuum cleaner
the thought of no food was much worse
and one day the ambulance came
and I put the dog into the room without food
and they took her out thru the open door
and took her to the hospital
and a few weeks later it was over
and yesterday
in this town
I took a walk to the top of the hill
and turned around at the hospital
and on the way back down
I walked past a house with an open door
and I heard the vacuum cleaner
I looked inside
but saw no one
I walked a little farther and thought
maybe she and the dog are out
looking for me
vacuuming

run away
found
room
without food
no food
into the room without food
they took her out
walk to the top of the hill
