My little Dumpling.
For you, I’ll stop my noodling.
It’s Chinese New Year.
My Julian Calendar resolutions aren’t even two months old, and yet, I’m willing to redouble my efforts to improve.
I don’t think Chinese new year requires it, but I don’t mind.
More crunches; less lunches.
The changes I am making are all for the better. You bring out the best in me.
I am determined not to fail.
You make me want to shine; and encourage me with your smile so wide,
and your eyes deeply accepting and kind.
Of course, I am so far from perfect that every change can be an improvement.
My reward is your soft, sleeping breath on my neck and chest.
I would be glad to let the night last forever.
I will do what ever it takes to share this whole new year with you.
No Monkey business. š
.
(Gung Hei Fat Choi means a prosperous year; not a happy one. That’s OK.
With you by my side, happiness is all but guaranteed.)
Missed Connections are filled with good, bad, and happy-new-year-haiku. Did you write one? Did you find one? Before you start any monkey-business, email the link to Lovelorn Poets! Weāll preserve those happy-and-prosperous-syllables for all eternity.
