Ringing
Missed Connections in Seattle-Tacoma
I dreamt of you.
It happens much less often than it used to,
But each time it does, I’m reminded of the first time you saw my face –
You dreamt me too.
Maybe that’s why my image fell so far in your eyes.
I was unable to live up to the perfection assumed by your phantom perception.
I will always love you
And each of your varied imperfections.
They haunt my thoughts so carelessly,
Both sleeping and awake.
I’m sorry.
I miss your eyes,
Your lips and warm skin.
But most of all,
I miss your voice
Ringing in my head.
NOTE FROM THE MISSED CONNECTIONS CHIEF BOTTLE FINDER:
This message made me think about the different sensory memories we keep and the personal qualities we associate with others. Maybe it’s a smile or a frequently uttered phrase or a scent or their walk… thoughts about those characteristics might fade but it seems we never truly forget them. All it takes is one little reminder and they come jumping forward again.
